Lead Carpenter (Residential Construction)

Responsibilities

  • Reading blueprints, plans, specs, and instructions
  • Using hand and power tools
  • Rough framing of walls, ceilings, flooring, and roofs
  • Finish carpentry including hanging crown moldings, installing window/door casings and baseboards, installing fixtures and hardware, cabinet installation.
  • Shoring erection, repair/replacement of patios, decks, doors, cabinets, appliances, and necessary demolition
  • May also include drywall, patching, and painting.
  • Checking the accuracy of completed work in accordance with the plans.
  • Other qualifications and responsibilities might arise as deemed necessary by circumstances.
  • Supervising crews and subs on site

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 3-5 years carpentry experience and knowledge of remodeling
  • Proficiency in all trades, including frame to finish.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and take pride in all work.
  • The ability to work efficiently without wasting materials and possessing reliable transportation and tools.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must possess ability to read building codes, blueprints, and drawings.
  • A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and tools of the trade required.
  • Must be willing to pass a criminal background check in compliance with regulations.

Overall Responsibility:

Overall financial and operational responsibility for the project

Immediate Supervisor:

Project Manager / Architect

Administrative Tasks:

  • Assist in preparing detailed and accurate estimates.
  • Inform estimators of cost adjustments
  • Prepare equipment capital budget.
  • Keep up to date on trends in construction processes and management and design.

Operational Tasks:

  • Set up job signage, porta potty, and dumpster.
  • Update job schedules with team
  • Obtain permits required for the job and stand in for inspections.
  • Work with inspector to ensure compliance with all building codes.
  • Keep job sites always clean.
  • Monitor site progress with leads.
  • Maintain quality at job site.
  • Ensure completion in accordance with plans and budget.
  • Assist clients through the building process.
  • Meet with clients to layout electric, cabinets, and trim details.
  • Ensure compliance with safety program.
  • Conduct final walk through with clients.
  • Help coordinate and attend monthly safety and job update meetings.
  • Daily Report Filing

Trade Supervision Tasks:

  • Solicit, review and award bids for trade work.
  • Solicit, review and award bids for material purchase.
  • Assist in negotiating yearly trade costs.
  • Coordinate with leads the timing of the trade contractors to allow timely completion.
  • Review trade bills with respect to original estimate and job budget
  • Identify new trade contractors.
